Rumen Radev: Ending the violence in the Middle East requires international action

Our most important task at the moment is to ensure the safe return of all Bulgarian citizens who wish to be evacuated from Lebanon, President Rumen Radev told journalists in Burgas.

Noting that the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East had the potential to undermine peace in the entire region, the head of state called for restraint and reason. "It is time to put an end to the spiral of violence and suffering in the Middle East, and this requires not only the efforts of the parties involved, but also the consistent efforts of the entire international community," the President stressed.

He said that the Bulgarian authorities were monitoring the situation, assessing the likelihood of an increase in migratory pressure on Bulgaria and the risk of asymmetric attacks in the region.
