Run in the centre of Sofia to popularize track and field for all

The first run Vazrazhdane 5K is taking place from the centre of Sofia today to popularize outdoor track and field as a suitable kind of sport for elite runners but also for people of all ages and social groups.

Mirela Demireva, silver medal holder in the high jump from the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro will be taking part in the event, alongside students from different schools in Sofia. The special guest at the event, pop singer Dara will have a concert.

The route of the race between the crossroads at Opulchenska St. and Todor Alexandrov Bvld. is certified and is now on the World Athletics global events calendar which means the results of the race will be included in the world rank list.

The run is taking place at the initiative of Stanislav Iliev, mayor of Sofia’s Vazrazhdane residential area.
