The European Parliament's Committee on Legal Affairs (JURI) has not found any conflict of interest regarding Bulgaria’s candidate for EU Commissioner Ekaterina Zaharieva. On November 5, she is set to be heard in the European Parliament’s Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE). Her portfolio will cover scientific research, innovations and startups. Members of the European Parliament’s Committee on Culture and Education (CULT) have also been invited to the hearing.

Successful completion of the interview is a prerequisite for her and the other candidates to be confirmed in their roles.
