From July to September alone, there were 277 accidents involving electric scooters. Seven people have died, Chief Inspector Lachezar Bliznakov from the "Traffic Police" told Nova TV.

The number of accidents has nearly tripled. That is why it is necessary to strengthen control over e-scooter drivers, Lachezar Bliznakov pointed out. He noted that about one-third of serious accidents involve pedestrians. Bliznakov explained that e-scooters are prohibited in parks and are meant to use cycling infrastructure. If there are no cycle paths, e-scooters must be driven on the road.

Children under 14 are not allowed to ride e-scooters, and those under 18 must wear helmets. The maximum allowed speed is 25 km/h.
