Thousands of fans, relatives and friends of the Bulgarian rock legend Kiril Marichkov flocked to the capital's Saint Sophia church to bid their last farewell to the beloved musician. At the same time, fans of Marichkov throughout the country organize various initiatives to commemorate his lasting legacy.

One of the most famous and beloved Bulgarian performers left this world on October 11 - 20 days before his 80th birthday in an accident on stage before the start of a concert in the village of Selanovtsi near Vratsa.
"I am very happy when I see that people are smiling and happy with what I do. The rudeness that surrounds us, the spiritlessness does not apply to the audience of Shturtsite (The Crickets) band", shared the singer and bassist, beloved by millions of Bulgarians, in one of his last interviews for the Bulgarian National Radio.

"A great musician, with a lot of style, with a lot of taste. His music created a whole generation," shared the actor and chairman of the Union of Artists in Bulgaria Hristo Mutafchiev. "He is a universe. I feel endlessly sorry. It shouldn't have happened like this. A man is gone, but he left an era in music," said Dancho Karadjov, frontman of the legendary Bulgarian rock band Signal.
Kiril Marichkov's career began in 1962 with Bandaratsite - one of the pioneer groups of Bulgarian rock. 40 years followed with another legendary Bulgarian rock group - Sturtsite (The Crickets), and the record of over 2,600 concerts, dozens of albums and countless tours. Since 2013, he has been part of the Bulgarian supergroup "The Foundation", which united some of the best Bulgarian rock musicians.

Marichkov is the author of more than 150 songs, and his fans will always remember hits such as "Rock in the Past", "The Taste of Time", "The Horseman", "Oath", "Hamlet", etc. He also composed the soundtrack of 14 films, including "Yesterday", "Adio Rio", "Danube Bridge".
