Construction of the National Children's Hospital will begin in June next year, interim Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev said at a briefing.

The hospital will have 26 wards and about 400 beds. It will provide complex care for young patients. "The most important thing is that in four years the stagnation of 40 years will be overcome," said Dimitar Glavchev.

According to the final design, the hospital will also have units for paediatric psychiatry, nuclear medicine, physiotherapy and rehabilitation, as well as a genetic laboratory, said Health Minister Galya Kondeva.
"Over the next four years, we intend to overcome the shortage of staff with a project that will encourage specialisation," the minister added.
