A large-scale exercise for the search and rescue of victims of an aircraft accident and measures to mitigate its consequences is being conducted on the Danube in the Ruse region, the Ministry of Defence has announced.

Two military helicopters and border police cutters are taking part in the SAREX-24 (Search and Rescue after Water-related Aircraft Accident) exercise, which involves services from several ministries. One of the main objectives is to test and improve the preparedness, including that of senior officials, and their ability to assess the situation and make the right decisions in the event of aircraft accidents on water.
