The participants of the 33rd National Antarctic Expedition led by Prof. Hristo Pimpirev have gathered for a training camp from October 25 to 27 in the town of Aheloy, Pomorie municipality, on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast.

This year, scientists from Greece, Montenegro, the UAE, Colombia, Portugal and Ecuador will also take part in the expedition, which is scheduled to leave in December.
In front of the BNR, Prof. Pimpirev pointed out that for Greece and the UAE this will be the first time they set foot on Antarctica. Scientists have focused their attention on studying climate changes and their causes, because the climate changes that affect the entire planet are most clearly visible in Antarctica. In order to bring their messages to a larger and larger audience, the polar explorers also use the methods of art. A film about the life of the Bulgarian research base in Antarctica will be broadcast as part of Cinemania Film Festival. And during the expedition, the first full-length artistic documentary film will be shot.

According to Prof. Pimpirev, Antarctica provides exceptional opportunities for artists who can then present it to people, so it is his wish that more and more artists would visit the Ice Continent.
