Since the beginning of the ongoing police operation against vote buying in the country, 849 reports have been received, 69.1% more than in the same period of the previous elections. In June this year, the police received 509 reports.

The number of pre-trial proceedings opened so far is 124 (99 in June), an increase of 25%. The number of people arrested as a result of special operations is 71, compared with 66 in the previous period (an increase of 7.6%).

The data was announced at a briefing by Interior Minister Atanas Ilkov. According to him, the higher number of alerts and pre-trial proceedings during this campaign is the result of the citizens' initiative and intolerance to vote buying and selling, and the good organisation of the work of the Ministry of Interior.
