Velichie party is 21 votes short of clearing the electoral threshold for entering the new parliament, said Rositsa Mateva, chair of the Central Election Commission (CEC).

“The ballots are not counted at the CEC, they are counted by the section election commissions which fill in the tally sheets. These are the official data they submit. On the basis of these data we announce the results. We do not count, we make checks wherever there are any inconsistencies. In two of the tally sheets we established there were 4 votes for Velichie in each that had been entered for the third one, that is why there were 21 votes in the end,” Rositsa Mateva said, in an interview with bTV, in a comment on one of the instances at polling stations in Pazardzhik. She stated further that the CEC does not view the video recordings and cannot eliminate inconsistencies on the basis of video recordings. “We guarantee that every vote by a Bulgarian voter is registered as it has been marked in the tally sheets,” Rositsa Mateva said.
