Representatives from Bulgaria and North Macedonia participated in a working meeting dedicated to the Corridor No. 8 railway, the Ministry of Transport announced. The institution specifies that the meeting planned for October 16 in Brussels was held on October 31 in Sofia.

After analysing the technical possibilities and assessing the risks, the participants agreed that the Deve Bair cross-border tunnel facility should be built by a single contractor. The representatives of the European Commission, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the European Investment Bank have expressed support for this technical solution and readiness to assist in the preparation and conduct of the tender procedure. Which of the countries will conduct the public procurement for the contractor of the tunnel facility will be decided in subsequent talks with potential financing institutions.
