The leader of "DPS-New Beginning" Delyan Peevski has called on the caretaker government and all responsible institutions, including the parliament, to give MEP Elena Yoncheva a mandate to negotiate for the release of the captured Bulgarian sailors from the "Galaxy Leader” ship.

For nearly a year, the captain and vice-captain Lyubomir Chanev and Danail Veselinov are captives of the Houthis in Yemen and it is the duty of all statesmen to do everything necessary to help Bulgarian citizens in trouble abroad, Peevski says. During her visit and meeting with the captured Bulgarian sailors, Elena Yoncheva proved that it is possible to find a way to negotiate for their release, the politician says. According to him, she must now receive a mandate for negotiations and all logistical support from the state so that the Bulgarians can return home.
