The Institute for Market Economics calls for budget deficit below 3%

We are moving towards the option of not having a quickly adopted budget for 2025, Lachezar Bogdanov, chief economist from the Institute for Market Economics, told BNR.

In presenting the institute's alternative state budget, the researcher said the 3% deficit limit was high. When you have tax revenue growth of over 12%, obviously the economy is doing well. The problem is the spending, he said. "There will be more spending for 2025 as well. It's not about cutting, it's about containing this spending growth," the economist said, calling for ambitions to be aligned with the macroeconomic environment.
