Bulgaria's newly-elected 51st National Assembly to hold its inaugural session today

Silvi Kirilov from "There Is Such a People" party, the oldest MP in the 51st National Assembly, will open the first session of the new parliament. At the inaugural session of the new Parliament, the MPs will take an oath to observe the Constitution and the laws of the Republic of Bulgaria and in all their actions to be guided by the interests of the people.

Traditionally, representatives of all parties and coalitions in the new Parliament will make statements, after which the election of the Parliament’s Speaker will take place – the first test to see whether the new parliament has a future, or if early parliamentary elections are again on the horizon.

Eight political forces will enter the National Assembly. GERB-SDS is the largest political formation with 69 MPs, followed by We Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria, Vazrazhdane, Movement for Rights and Freedoms – A New Beginning, BSP – United Left, Alliance for Rights and Freedoms, There Is Such a People and MЕCH.

The inaugural session of the 51st National Assemblt will be attended by President Rumen Radev, Vice President Iliana Iotova and other distinguished guests.
