President Rumen Radev has opened the forum "The Future of Competitiveness at Net Zero" in the Bulgarian pavilion at the United Nations Climate Change Conference COP29, which is taking place in Baku, Azerbaijan.

The panel dedicated to the competitiveness of economies in conditions of zero carbon emissions brought together the European Commissioner for Innovation and Scientific Research Iliana Ivanova, the vice chair of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Diana Urge-Vorsatz, the Vice-President of the European Investment Bank Ambroise Fayolle and the first Vice-President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Jürgen Rigterink.

For a second time, Bulgaria participates at the conference with its own pavilion and clearly shows its ambitions to participate in climate diplomacy and to contribute to the fight against climate change, President Radev said at the opening. Climate change is already threatening not only people and the economy, but also peace and security globally, the Bulgarian head of state pointed out.
