PP-DB and MECH have common goals regarding anti-corruption legislation, but have differences when it comes to possible partnerships in government.
The two parties met to discuss the possibilities of forming a government, but during the talks, MECH leader Radostin Vasilev rejected the possibility of cooperation with GERB and proposed the inclusion of "Vazrazhdane" in an anti-GERB and anti-DPS coalition. Vasilev pointed out that he agreed with the condition for isolating Peevski, but proposed a political unification of all against Borisov and Peevski. Kiril Petkov from PP-DB firmly rejected cooperation with "Vazrazhdane", pointing out ideological differences. Regarding the anti-corruption legislation, Petkov expressed hope that MECH would share ideas, but they rejected the proposal to nationalize Lukoil and to close the collection companies.
There Is Such a People (ITN) also supports the initiative for an anti-corruption legislation and a "cordon sanitaire" around Delyan Peevski. They presented their priorities at a meeting with We Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (PP-DB) - changes to the Electoral Code, clearing the voter lists of so-called "dead souls" and changes to the Judicial System Act. ITN insists on limiting the powers of the Prosecutor General, amending the Constitution regarding caretaker governments and restoring the old method of appointing them by the president. They also propose changes to the conditions for holding referendums. ITN MP Toshko Yordanov also suggested that Silvi Kirilov continues to serve as National Assembly Speaker.
Following another meeting at the National Assembly, initiated by PP-DB, it became clear that the Alliance for Rights and Freedoms will sign the declaration for a "cordon sanitaire" around Delyan Peevski and his party, DPS – A New Beginning. The Alliance for Rights and Freedoms will also support the anti-corruption legislative package.
