Minister Nayden Todorov: The funds for culture are being distributed incorrectly

Without changes to the system, the funds for culture will not be distributed properly and will continue to fall short, caretaker Minister of Culture Nayden Todorov said in an interview with BNT. Minister Todorov stated that he has developed a comprehensive strategy for the development of culture in Bulgaria, as well as a bill to stop the siphoning of funds. Nayden Todorov emphasized that the lack of a government over the past three years has hindered the resolution of problems in the long term.

The budget for culture for 2025 needs to be slightly higher, but the way it is allocated should also change, Minister Todorov pointed out. He added that in the past two months, around 2 million leva have been distributed for the renovation of buildings connected to the country’s cultural heritage. According to Minister Todorov, however, the funds are insufficient to do all the necessary repairs. The main problem in Bulgaria is control, said Minister Todorov, referring to the recent snap elections
