The Ministry of Transport and Communications supports the idea of naming Sofia Airport after Vasil Levski– the most undisputed figure in Bulgarian history.
"I would like to thank the academic community, especially Academician Julian Revalski (President of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences) and Professor Atanas Semov, who initiated the discussion about naming Sofia Airport after Vasil Levski", said caretaker Minister of Transport and Communications Krasimira Stoyanova. Following the ministry’s positive stance, a presidential decree is needed, as the airport is a facility of national importance. Steps will also be taken in international and national legislation, Krasimira Stoyanova added.
