Bulgaria does not expect decrease in migration pressure from the Middle East

Bulgaria's position on Syria remains unchanged and we continue to support the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of the country. This was what caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivan Kondov told the parliament. 

We call for the protection of civilians and compliance with international law, Kondov said and pointed out that the Bulgarian diplomats from the Bulgarian embassy in Damascus have been evacuated to Beirut. He said that a rise in migration is not expected and expressed hope that the change of the regime in Damascus will lead to more Syrians returning to their homeland. But the migration pressure from the Middle East will not decrease, Kondov pointed out and added that the processes there continue to be destructive.

At the moment, there is no change in the security environment along the border and inside the country, caretaker Minister of Interior Atanas Ilkov told the parliament.
