Lonely elderly people in Burgas will have a digital assistant

From the beginning of 2025, Home Social Patronage-Burgas will introduce a digital health and social service – "teleassistance", reported BNR Burgas. The new service, "digital assistant," will build on the telemedicine services that Burgas Municipality has been offering to the elderly, sick and lonely people for the past two years.

The innovation is a "smart bracelet" that will assist personal assistants, employees of Home Social Patronage-Burgas and relatives in caring for elderly individuals and people with disabilities. The bracelet will monitor health indicators such as pulse, blood pressure and temperature, which will be measured six times a day. A 24-hour contact center will track the changes in these readings and, if necessary, inform relatives and employees of Home Social Patronage-Burgas. The smart bracelet will also provide information about the user's location, making it particularly suitable for people with dementia. The device also has an SOS button for emergency calls. Thus, the bracelet will support elderly individuals who live alone, as well as those whose relatives live far from them.
