At the last moment, when the third expedition of Bulgaria's Antarctic research ship was supposed to leave for Antarctica in November, we received a letter that the money for the ship to return back has been redirected to grain producers. This meant that the ship could not return - it would stay there, said Prof. Hristo Pimpirev, head of the Bulgarian Antarctic expeditions, to bTV.

"I also spoke with Prime Minister Glavchev who personally called me. We will not leave our polar explorers in distress, things have moved forward," Pimpirev added.

"We have a polar base, now we also have a ship - many countries have joined us. The United Arab Emirates can pay for itself and go with any country to Antarctica, but they are coming with us," the professor added.
