The Sofia police are increasing the presence of uniformed officers during the Christmas and New Year holiday period, announced the Sofia Directorate of Interior. Enhanced counter-terrorism patrols are being carried out in the city center. Enhanced security measures have been implemented in areas near shopping centers, grocery chains, train stations, bus stations and other public places. There is monitoring to ensure compliance with the ban on the sale of alcohol, tobacco products, and laughing gas to minors.

The requirements of the Law on Weapons, Ammunition, Explosives and Pyrotechnics are also brought to the attention of police officers during the celebrations. Firefighting teams, with appropriate firefighting vehicles, will be on duty in the largest squares around Christmas and New Year.

Enhanced control is planned not only in the capital city, but also in smaller settlements and resorts.
