For the 16th time on January 1, the Tsarevets Fortress in Veliko Tarnovo welcomed the first tourist. This is the only architectural and museum complex in the country that operates year-round and is the most visited open-air museum in the country.
The first tourist turned out to be 22-year-old Ivaylo Iliev from Veliko Tarnovo, who waited in front of the fortress for 4 hours to be the first to enter. He received a free guided tour, gifts from the Regional History Museum - Veliko Tarnovo and was personally welcomed by the museum director Ivan Tsurov. Bessarabian Bulgarians from Ukraine were also among the first visitors. With the entry into Schengen, the flow of Romanian tourists to the fortress is expected to increase.
