Around BGN 300 million (€ 153.3 million) is the projected financial impact of our full membership in the Schengen area, said acting Tourism Minister Evtim Miloshev. According to an initial analysis, the direct benefits for the sector in the coming years are expected to average this amount.

"The best message that Bulgaria can send to the world in 2025 is that our country is not only a great tourist destination, but also a safe one. Being in the Schengen area is a guarantee of that," the minister said.

Evtim Miloshev stressed that even the most beautiful place in the world loses its appeal if it isn't safe and travellers don't feel protected. According to him, Bulgaria is attractive to foreign tourists because of "the extraordinary beauty of our nature, the exceptional cultural and historical heritage we possess, and our legendary hospitality".
