Price of agricultural land in Bulgaria going down amidst instability

Observations by the Bulgarian Association of Agricultural Land Owners show that the price of agricultural land in Bulgaria is decreasing, its chairman Evgeniy Orashakov told the Bulgarian National Radio. According to him, the decline in different areas is between 10 and 20 percent, and the main reason for this is uncertainty.

“First of all, there is political instability, the impact of the war in Ukraine on geopolitics, on the region and on the markets for grain and oilseed crops,” said Evgeniy Orashakov.

Land in Bulgaria's northeastern region remains the most expensive. According to the chairman of the association, weather conditions and lower yields have an impact on prices.

“I expect this trend to continue this year, with a slight decrease in prices, but it will reflect the characteristics of each region,” he added.
