Negotiations to form a regular government continue

Negotiations to form a regular government continue today. There is agreement on the name of the next prime minister - Rosen Zhelyazkov from GERB-SDS, there is also agreement on the governance agreement. However, the talks are complicated by the inclusion in them of representatives of the "Democracy, Rights and Freedoms - DPS" party, from whom support is expected in the plenary hall, BNR reporter Maria Fileva reported.

Despite the initial agreement that the formation around Ahmed Dogan would not have its own representatives in the executive power, today it has requested deputy ministerial positions and real influence on the decisions of the future cabinet, which was not well received by the three formations that are part of the agreement - GERB-SDS, BSP and ITN, and in practice calls into question the successful conclusion of the negotiations.

In a press release, however, Democracy, Rights and Freedoms - DPS dismissed "media speculation" about "hand-wringing or hidden agendas regarding posts".

"These rumours are aimed at discrediting efforts to form a government majority and diverting public attention from the essence of the constructive dialogue we are conducting," the party said.

President Rumen Radev is expected to set a date for handing over an exploratory mandate to form a cabinet when he receives assurance that the negotiations have been concluded.
