The Bulgarian government has sent the Republic of North Macedonia a draft agreement for the preparation, construction and operation of a cross-border railway tunnel connecting the two countries. The Bulgarian state's proposal is that the two governments make specific and clear commitments for the implementation of the border railway tunnel, which is a key element of Corridor No 8.

By signing the document, prepared by the Ministry of Transport and Communications, the technical, financial, legal and organizational issues related to the construction of the tunnel will be agreed upon, ensuring compliance with the European and national legislation of both countries. The Bulgarian side is ready to begin negotiations with North Macedonia on the proposed texts as soon as possible.
