Bulgaria is well advanced in the process of meeting the criteria for joining the Eurozone, European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde said during her regular press conference.

Christine Lagarde was asked to comment on the country’s intention to request extraordinary convergence reports to assess the fulfillment of the criteria for joining the Eurozone. According to Lagarde, the main evaluation is carried out by the European Commission.  According to Lagarde, the ECB is “marginally involved in the process, because we do not pass judgment on anything else than convergence toward inflation''. ''From what I have seen and the discussions I have had with Bulgarian authorities, I am confident that this process is going well", said Christine Lagarde.
