Acting Prosecutor-General Borislav Sarafov has appealed against the decision by the Plenum of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) to suspend the procedure for the election of the Chief Prosecutor, reports BNR journalist Silvia Velikova.

The Plenum of the SJC was convened for an extraordinary session on January 23 by Justice Minister Georgi Georgiev in connection with the postponement of the procedure for the selection of the Prosecutor-General, following a decision by the Plenum of the SJC on January 16.
At the meeting, the Plenum voted to terminate the election procedure, following Parliament's final decision to stop the ongoing selection procedure for the Prosecutor-General by amending the Law on the Judiciary.

Acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov was the only candidate for the position in this procedure.
