Italy’s ambassador to Bulgaria Giuseppina Zarra met with Deputy PM and Minister of Transport Grozdan Karadjov. The two discussed bilateral cooperation in the sphere of connectivity, with a particular focus on the progress in completing European Corridor VIII – a strategic project from the Adriatic to the Black Sea aimed at the transport connectivity between Italy, Albania, North Macedonia and Bulgaria. Together with representatives of Italian businesses, “a fruitful exchange of opinion took place on strategic issues connected with the infrastructure and economic development of Bulgaria and the Balkan region, including extending the railway network and rendering it safe, and establishing new intermodal centres to make the logistics between Bulgaria and the European markets more effective and sustainable,” BTA reports.
