Airports in Bulgaria need effective anti-drone systems, transport and communications minister says

In connection with the incident involving a drone intercepted in the vicinity of Sofia Airport last night, deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications Grozdan Karadjov pointed to the need of anti-drone security systems within the perimeter of airports.

At a meeting with Georgi Peev, Director General of the state company Air Traffic Control, Minister Karadjov gave instructions to the company to propose a technical solution for a drone early warning and monitoring system. Minister Karadjov stated further that conventional anti-drone systems are not applicable at these sites because they could affect communications and the navigation equipment. On his part Georgi Peev acquainted Grozdan Karadjov with last night’s incident and the measures that have been taken.
