Bulgaria remains one of the countries with a high level of corruption in the public sector, indicates the Corruption Perceptions Index 2024 published by Transparency International.
With a score of 43, Bulgaria ranks 76th out of 180 countries and territories, which is two slots down compared to the previous Corruption Perceptions Index. Out of the other EU members there is only one country where the perception of corruption is higher – Hungary with a score of 41. Denmark is once again top of the list of non-corrupt countries with 90 points. Somalia, Venezuela and Syria are bottom of the list with a score of 9, 10 and 12 respectively. The perception of corruption is lower in Romania – 65, Croatia – 63 and Slovakia 59.
