Cybersecurity and Bulgaria's inclusion in the Visa Waiver Program of the US are two priorities of the government, directly linked to the work of the General Directorate Combating Organized Crime, said Minister of Interior Daniel Mitov during the celebration of the professional holiday of the service. A few days ago, Mitov pointed out the importance of the visa issue for Bulgaria during a meeting with Martin McDowell, Chargé d'Affaires at the Embassy of the United States in Sofia.

In 2024, the percentage of denied B-type visas for Bulgarians to the US was 6.02%, which is the lowest percentage so far, according to BTA after a check on the US State Department website. One of the technical conditions for this country's inclusion in the US Visa Waiver Program is that the percentage of denied tourist visas for Bulgarian citizens should not exceed 3%.
