The highest average salary in Bulgaria is in Sofia - 1732 euro, and the lowest in Smolyan - 826 euro. These are the data from the National Statistical Institute (NSI) for December 2024.

Because of the salaries in the capital, the average salary in the entire south-west region of the country is the highest - just over EUR 1,500. Outside the capital, however, nowhere else reaches this level.
Varna ranks second with an average salary of 1167 euro, followed by Vratsa with 1159 euro. The lowest average salaries, together with Smolyan, are in Vidin - 854 euro and Blagoevgrad - 833 euro.

Compared with the same period in the previous year, the average monthly wage in the fourth quarter of 2024 increased by 12% in the public sector and by 14.2% in the private sector.
