Rumen Radev: Realism replaces naivety regarding the situation in Ukraine

There is finally political will at the highest level to resolve the conflict between Ukraine and Russia through diplomacy, and this process must be supported, President Rumen Radev told journalists before the opening of the Munich Security Conference. "Realism is replacing naivety and ignorance regarding the situation in Ukraine," said Radev. According to him, those who blindly believed in a military solution to the conflict, in the victory over Russia and its push beyond the 2014 borders, have pushed Ukraine towards a fiasco with disastrous consequences in terms of human, economic and territorial losses.

"Today, we expect the US peace plan for Ukraine to be presented, but even if this does not happen, some outlines of the American starting points for negotiations are already becoming clear", Rumen Radev said further, adding that according to this plan, Ukraine cannot join NATO, American troops will not participate in peacekeeping operations on Ukrainian territory, and Europe should invest more in its security.

President Radev Radev singled out Europe's priority task as finding its place at the negotiating table, because these talks are being conducted in the name of peace in Europe, and a just and sustainable solution cannot be found without its participation.
