Bulgaria's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Georg Georgiev, participated in a working breakfast dedicated to addressing illegal migration and its consequences. The forum was part of Georg Georgiev’s program during the Munich Security Conference, following a special invitation from the British Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, David Lammy. The Foreign Ministers of Italy, Poland, the Netherlands and Romania and representatives of Germany also took part in the discussion.

In his speech, Minister Georgiev emphasized that illegal migration has become a significant European and global challenge, undermining social stability and security. He highlighted the need for a coordinated approach to the problem. "Only by ensuring a high level of security at its external borders can the EU guarantee the free movement and security of its citizens internally. Schengen Membership strengthens our capacity to manage migration and combat cross-border crime more effectively", said Georg Georgiev, noting that a number of measures have been taken to strengthen the Border Police and provide the necessary technical equipment.
