Speaking to the Bulgarian National Radio, the ambassadors of Germany and France to Bulgaria Irene Plank and Joël Meyer commented on the current situation in Europe and the upcoming negotiations on Ukraine.
"This is an informal meeting. This is not a European meeting. UK is participating. This is an ad hoc format. No conclusions will be reached at this meeting. We will see in what direction discussions will go when Poland holds the Presidency of the Council of EU," Ambassador Meyer said about the meeting in Paris, to which Bulgaria was not invited.
"There have always been disagreements, including at the level of transatlantic relations. France opposed the second war in Iraq. The US continues to be our ally and will most likely remain so," Meyer added.
Ambassador Plank pointed out that it was important what kind of peace there would be in Ukraine. "There is peace in a cemetery, but we do not want exactly that," the diplomat said.
