The government strongly condemned the desecration of the European Commission building in Bulgaria in a Facebook post. "Attacks against institutions, whether national or European, are unacceptable and contradict the principles of the rule of law. Especially by supporters of a party that has its representatives in the European Parliament... The democratic right to protest does not include aggression, destruction of public property and attacks on police officers. The state will categorically not tolerate attempts at destabilization and will take all necessary measures to guarantee public order," the Council of Ministers wrote.
The Commission told BNR that they were aware of the case and regretted that a peaceful protest had turned into violence.

In his position, Interior Minister Daniel Mitov strongly condemned the aggression against police officers and that those responsible would be held accountable for their actions. "I am convinced that mutual respect between protesters and those who protect citizens' rights is at the foundation of our democratic state," Mitov pointed out.
