Mayors from Balkan countries gather at B40 forum in Sofia

Sofia has taken over the presidency of the most prestigious local government forum in the Balkans – B40. The capital’s mayor Vasil Terziev accepted the baton from the municipality of Tirana, which marked the beginning of the fourth edition of B40.
The forum is attended by Ekrem İmamoğlu - Mayor of Istanbul and founder of the B40 network, Tomislav Tomašević - Mayor of Zagreb, Predrag Puharić - Mayor of Sarajevo, as well as many other heads of capitals and cities from the Balkans, including Athens, Podgorica, Thessaloniki, Constanta.

The event is attended by representatives of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the head of NetZeroCities - Thomas Osdoba, the spokesperson for the Council of Europe on Climate Change, André Sobczak - Secretary General of Eurocities, and others.

The most interesting discussions at the Sofia B40 meeting are related to increasing regional climate resilience through sustainable urban development and green energy projects, as well as finding the balance between technological innovation and ensuring cybersecurity.
