Bulgarian artist Stoimen Stoilov with an exhibition in Vienna

An exhibition by Bulgarian artist Stoimen Stoilov will open at the Bulgarian Cultural Institute "Haus Wittgenstein" in Vienna, Austria, on February 28 and will be on display until March 28. The exhibition includes paintings, pastels and graphics.

Stoimen Stoilov was born in Varna in 1944. He graduated from the National Academy of Arts in Sofia in 1972 and is the creator of the International Biennial of Graphics in Varna. 

In 1991 he received the prestigious Gottfried von Herder award for lifetime achievement from the University of Vienna. Since the same year he has moved to live and work in Vienna.

In 2009, Stoimen Stoilov was awarded the title of professor by the Austrian state for exceptional services to the development of its culture and art. 

Since 2010, he has been a holder of the Stara Planina Order, 1st degree. In 2024, he was awarded the highest distinction of the Bulgarian Ministry of Culture - "Golden Age" - a necklace for contribution to Bulgarian culture and art.
