A jubilee, 10th journey on board the Rhodope narrow gauge train dedicated to Bulgaria’s national day 3rd March, is taking place today along he scenic rail route from Septemvri to Dobrinishte.
During the past nine years the festive train has carried over 2,400 passengers on 3 March. The train composition has 7 to 11 carriages and they are always packed with people from near and far, according to the Narrow Gauge Train association.
The “Rhodope” train will set out from September at 8.55 AM, and the passengers will be welcomed at the station in Velingrad, after which, in a festive procession together with locals from Yakoruda, they will go to the central town square. There, in the chitalishte building (community culture club), they will be able to watch a festive programme featuring school-goers and amateur artists from the town.
The event is organized by the association, together with Bulgarian State Railways, Velingrad municipality and Yakoruda municipality.
