Today, Bulgaria's Premier Rosen Zhelyazkov convenes a meeting of the Security Council at the Council of Ministers. The topic of the meeting is entitled "Review and analysis of the current geopolitical situation and the resulting risks to national security." In addition to the permanent members of the Security Council, the chairpersons of all parliamentary groups have also been invited to attend the council. The Security Council has been convened in connection with Premier Zhelyazkov's visit to Brussels. On March 6, EU leaders will discuss additional support for Ukraine and how to cover the funds needed for European defense.

Before the meeting, Nikolai Denkov from We Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria (PP-DB) said that defense funding should be increased and that Bulgaria should participate in European defense policies. According to Dragomir Stoynev from BSP-United Left, the government should take a position that aligns with the expectations of the Bulgarian people.

''Let’s discuss first and after the meeting we will make a comment", said the chairman of the parliamentary group of Democracy, Rights and Freedoms–DPS, Dzhevdet Chakarov. The smallest parliamentary party MECH said they were firmly in favour of peace and added that military actions in Ukraine should stop.
