Tensions between the US and Europe have increased Bulgarians' trust in the EU

Over the past 6 months, Bulgarians' support for the country's membership in the EU has increased - from 57 to 61 percent. Just 15% are against it, according to a representative survey from February conducted by sociological agency "Alpha Research".

The gap between positive and negative assessments of Bulgaria's membership in NATO is closing slightly - from 40% positive and 28% negative in September 2024 to 39% positive and 30% negative in February 2025.

When asked what position Bulgaria should take in the presence of a discrepancy between the positions of the US and Europe, public attitudes show that "Bulgaria as part of the EU must support the common positions of the union and strengthen its unity and strength." 59% of those surveyed stand behind the EU. The opposite position that "Bulgaria should adhere to the positions of the US, since they are stronger" is supported by 14 percent.
