In an interview with BBC, Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev says that Sofia welcomes the commitment of President Trump's administration to stop the war of aggression against Ukraine in order to achieve a lasting and sustainable peace. "What is important, however, is how exactly we will achieve this common goal," he adds.

According to the minister, Europe and the EU should continue to engage constructively and strategically with the US administration.

Asked whether Bulgaria and Ukraine could rely on the United States as an ally in the same way as before, Georg Georgiev says that a US withdrawal would have serious political and military consequences. "As our biggest and strongest NATO ally, friend and partner of the EU, I think we have no reason not to trust each other. I believe that only by working together can we achieve our goals," he said.

Georg Georgiev points out that after the recent events and the commitment of both Ukraine and the US on one side and Europe on the other, we can expect a good outcome. "We trust the US and have no reason to think otherwise," he concludes.
