Vazrazhdane party has sent a formal request to President Rumen Radev to call a referendum on keeping the Bulgarian Lev, the party’s leader Kostadin Kostadinov writes on Facebook, and adds that a referendum can be scheduled if the signatures of 400,000 Bulgarian citizens have been collected, or the signatures of 48 MPs, or by the signature of the president himself.

“I have spoken with the president twice on the matter and he refused to call a referendum - twice. However, our conversations were unofficial and have not been documented. Therefore, today I sent a formal letter to Rumen Radev,” Kostadinov writes, and adds that he is expecting his request to be denied but that he wants the president’s official position to be documented for history.
