In 2024, border guards prevented more than 52 500 migrants from attempting to enter Bulgaria illegally. The Border Police' increased patrols and equipment have led to a 70% drop in migration pressure compared to the same period in 2023. This was revealed at a meeting in Sofia of the heads of the border services participating in Operation Solidarity - Austria, Bulgaria, Romania and Hungary, the Border Police said.

Of those detained for violating the state border at the entrance, most are citizens of Syria and Afghanistan, there is a tendency for an increase in the number of illegal migrants from Egypt and Morocco.

The good results of the first month of the international contingent's activity on the Bulgarian-Turkish border were reported at the meeting, and the assessment of all four parties is entirely positive.
