The prehistoric complex "Provadiya-Solnitsata" - the oldest salt production and urban centre in Europe (5600 - 4350 BC) - is among the sites nominated for the European Heritage Label 2025. This year, the European Commission received a total of 21 nominations from 15 Member States. The nominations will be evaluated by a panel of 13 independent European experts. The final selection will be made in December 2025.
So far, 67 sites have been awarded the European Heritage Label. In 2021, Bulgaria received the label for the museum centre Thracian Art in Eastern Rhodopes: Aleksandrovo Tomb.
