Weather forecast for 17 March

Wind, rain and a sharp drop in temperature

Overnight, clouds over the north and east will bring brief showers. There will be light to moderate westerly winds which will increase in strength on Monday, veering north-west and bringing in cold air. Showers will be widespread, especially in the south-east. 


The minimum temperatures will be between 5°C and 10°C, in Sofia - around 5°C, and the maximum temperatures in most places will be between 11°C and 16°C, in Sofia - around 11°C.


Over the mountains the cloud cover will be considerable. There will be snow in places above 1,500-1,700 m, and rain and snow in the Eastern Rhodopes. Moderate to strong winds will blow from west-northwest. The maximum temperature at 1,200 m will be around 5°C, at 2,000 m - around 0°C.


The Black Sea coast will be cloudy and rainy. More precipitation is expected along the southern coast. Winds will be strong from the north-northeast at the end of the day. Maximum temperatures will be between 10° and 14°C and sea water temperatures will be 8°-9°C. The sea swell will be 1-2 with a tendency to increase to 3-4 by the end of the day.
