Two brothers, members of an organized crime group busted a few years ago, have been detained for abducting two men.

The  kidnappers and the persons considered missing are thought to be connected with 160 kgs. of cocaine missing in Sofia. According to data from US partner services, the drugs arrived at a European port from South America, and from there reached Bulgaria by land. The cocaine was supposed to traverse Bulgarian territory to reach Türkiye, explained chief commissioner Lyubomir Nikolov, director of Sofia police.

“The motive for the kidnaping is not entirely clear – it could be unresolved financial dealings or something connected with narcotics,” said deputy Sofia city prosecutor Ivo Iliev.
