Gold for Bulgarian rhythmic gymnasts on the first day of the International Sofia Cup

Absolute European champion Stiliyana Nikolova won the title in the women’s all-around at the international rhythmic gymnastics tournament “Sofia Cup” in the Bulgarian capital. Another Bulgarian – Dara Stoyanova – won the silver medal. Third place went to Alice Lebedova from Latvia.

Stiliyana Nikolova collected an asset of 115.950 points, while Dara Stoyanova had three fewer.

Bulgaria will be represented today by four Bulgarians in the finals of the individual apparatuses – Stiliyana Nikolova will play on ball and clubs, Dara Stoyanova – on hoop, clubs and ribbon, Eva Brezalieva – on hoop and ribbon, and Dara Malinova – on ball.

Bulgaria’s first team in the girls’ team competition, represented by Magdalena Valkova and Antoaneta Tsankova, also earned gold.

"A very strong Bulgaria, very strong internal competition, surprises in the rankings within the team itself. I am very happy and satisfied with what I see," Iliana Raeva, president of the Bulgarian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation, summed up after the first day of the tournament.
